Golden Showers Rose

I was fortunate to have roses on my table this week. Vivid, bright yellow and fantastic fragrance.
These are Golden Showers roses. It is the second year of the bush and it produced many, many flowers just like the name explains. I wanted this rose and bought it last summer. So happy I did.

At first I thought the aroma would be slighter before the buds opened. It was not! One of the reasons Golden Showers rose is loved is the fragrance.

The little bright buds grew in the vase and became enormous airy, pastel beauties. The colour is another reason. And the bush has various shades as different phases are colored differently and looks beautiful.
The leaves are glossy and the perfect shade to make the flowers pop.
You can see the red stems on the photo below:
The colour got softer as the petals expanded. I love the way they glowed in the sun light.
The classic tea rose bud, opens to an almost cabbage look /above/ and then turns a little scrappy:
They open like plates then. This is the look that I have seen in catalogs for Golden Showers - a bit scrappy, a bit washed... old look of a perfect climbing rose:
I think these changes go much quicker in a garden. In a vase they were slower. The roses lasted 5 full days. I was surprised.
The semi open look is beautiful too:
 One more light-in-the-petals look:
The structure of the bush is upright and straight. They are not the flexible type of roses, but young stems are flexible and they benefit from horizontal stems a lot.

Golden Showers is expected to grow and flower on a North wall too. I have nothing to say about this as on a North wall it is not. Still I recommend it. In its second summer it is a big healthy and a all-summer-flowering rose.
